British Music
British music began to develop as its own style of music beginning in the 16th century. The popularity of British music began its upswing with the advent of folk music written in Britain. Each country of the region had its influences from British music in the folk genre ñ Wales, Northern Ireland, and Scotland had all incorporated aspects from the folk music that was written, mainly the adding of fiddles to compositions. Over time, these changes began to be accepted by British music composers.
When the average person thinks about British music, folk is not typically the genre that comes to mind. British music has been punctuated by the bands that have built their careers in England and have influenced the entire music world. The Beatles, for example, are the kings of the British music world, and not only influenced the country, but the entire world with their style of music.
British music has been among the most influential that the music world has seen. From the folk styles of the 16th century to the rock music legends from the 1960ís and beyond, British music has been a cornerstone of the world.
